Shadow of the Colossus: How to Beat the Wanderer

Shadow of the Colossus: How to Beat the Wanderer

Much like in the original, hunting for Colossi in Shadow of the Colossus can be one of the most challenging portions of the game. However, this is where the meat of the title begins and players get to truly dive into the game’s world.

The first Colossus players will have to face in Shadow of the Colossus is The Wanderer. The Wanderer isn’t particularly difficult to defeat or find, but it gives players a nice introduction to the world that is Shadow of the Colossus.

Finding The Wanderer

To find any location, players will have to hold their sword out. The beam of light that comes from it will point south for The Wanderer’s location. Players will want to mount their horse and start heading towards the F5 section of the map until a wall is hit. Right before they get to their first Colossus, payers will learn how to run, climb, jump, and use all of the other game mechanics at this point.

Finding and Attacking The Wanderer’s Weak Spots

Once players reach The Wanderer, they will hold up their sword to highlight the Colossus’ weak spots. For this portion of the battle, the weak spot is on the back of its leg. Players will have to jump and climb onto the Colossus to attack. Players can also raise their sword to charge it, filling the meter on the screen. Once it is full, players can deal maximum damage to this weak spot. This might take some time, but soon enough, The Wanderer will fall to one knee.

After this happens, a second weak spot appears. Players will now climb its back and make their way onto the Colossus’ head, and once again raise their sword to charge the meter and attack with maximum damage. Learning this particular tactic now will help players in future battles with much stronger and badder Colossi, which should be very beneficial. After striking The Wanderer’s head, he will fall to the ground.

The first Colossus is now defeated! Once his happens, players will be returned to the original chamber of the game with their health completely restored and a Trophy titled “Valley of the Wanderer.” With the first Colossus defeated, players can now take on the second one and continue on their journey in Bluepoint Games‘ remake of Shadow of the Colossus.

Shadow of the Colossus is available now exclusively for the PS4.
